Son of the late Patrick and Rose Carroll. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Rose & Tony Suckling (both Dec’d) and Barry (Dec’d), Kathleen & Allan Steele (Dec’d), Lelia, Peter and Paul. Loved uncle and great uncle of his many nieces and nephews.

Solemn Mass
A Solemn Pontifical Mass for the Repose of the Soul of Archbishop Carroll will be held at St Michael’s Cathedral, Wagga Wagga on Wednesday 20th March 2024 at 11:00am

This Mass WILL NOT be livestreamed.

Vigil Gathering
St Brendan’s Church, Ganmain, to be held on Tuesday 19th March 2024 at 5:30pm

Burial
Burial will take place in the crypt of  St Christopher’s Cathedral, Canberra, following the Funeral Mass to be held there on Thursday 21st March 2024 at 11:00am

Archbishop Carroll [known to many as Fr Francis], was born in Ganmain NSW in 1930 and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Wagga Wagga in 1954. He was Bishop of Wagga Wagga from 1968 to 1983. Appointed as Archbishop of Canberra and Goulburn in 1983, he retired in 2006 and returned to Wagga Wagga. In 2018 Archbishop Carroll moved into full-time residential care at Wagga’s Loretto Home of Compassion.

Bishop Mark Edwards OMI and the clergy of the Catholic Diocese of Wagga Wagga extend their deepest sympathy to Archbishop Carroll’s family, relatives and many friends.
